NITROUS OXIDE
Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is another option that is safe and friendly for both children and adults. Nitrous oxide is a non-allergenic, non-irritating gas that affects the central nervous system. It’s one of the safest forms of sedation available, and patients who have used it report very few, if any, side effects. This is administered by soft mask and allows your fears to just float away, leaving you in a warm, relaxing state of comfort throughout your entire visit. For this option no alternate plans need to be made for transportation, as you will notice the sedation quickly dissipate after your dental procedure is complete.
ORAL SEDATION
Oral sedation is sometimes used to help relax any patient with anxiety or thoughts of discomfort, whether you are coming in for a routine visit or having any type of major dental work done. Oral sedation is popular because it does not require the use of needles. Oral sedation comes highly recommended and can take effect within half an hour, which can make your visit the most comfortable visit you have ever had to a dentist. Please note that with oral sedation, you’ll need to make prior arrangements for a family member or friend to take you home.
IV SEDATION
IV sedation allows us to complete multiple dental procedures in one visit and uses a combination of pain relieving medication and sedatives, which leaves you completely relaxed and unaware of the procedures being performed. IV sedation works much quicker than pills or nitrous oxide and allows us to give you only the amount needed to keep you safe and comfortable. Please note that with IV sedation, you’ll also need to make prior arrangements for a family member or friend to take you home.
