EXTRACTIONS
Dental extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth. Extractions are performed for a wide variety of reasons, including tooth decay, wisdom teeth, gum disease, space constraints and/or cosmetic purposes. Simple extractions can be performed under local anesthesia on teeth that are visible and can be easily accessed. Teeth that are either not visible or difficult to access may require surgical extractions under general anesthesia. Following an extraction, the wound generally takes about a week to heal, followed by the healing of the socket within a couple of months.
