For patients who lose a single tooth due to an accident or periodontal disease, the tooth can be replaced by a dental implant and will function and look like a natural tooth. The implant is inserted into the site of the missing tooth, then a small post or “abutment” connects to the implant. The replacement tooth is then cemented on top of the abutment.
